Brooksville teen accused of sexual battery on girl, 7

BROOKSVILLE — Hernando County sheriff's deputies have arrested a 15-year-old boy on 11 counts of sexual battery involving a 7-year-old girl.

The teen, who isn't being identified because he is a juvenile, is accused of having sexual intercourse with the girl, forcing her to perform oral sex and engaging in other sex acts with her, the Hernando County Sheriff's Office said.

Deputies said the girl told them the sex acts happened when she lived at a home with the teen in 2009 and 2010.

During an interview with the teen at the Sheriff's Office on Wednesday, the boy initially denied any physical involvement with the girl. But he later admitted to most of the allegations, according to the arrest report.

The teen was taken into custody at the Sheriff's Office and was then transported to the Department of Juvenile Justice's Juvenile Assessment Center in Ocala.

The Legislature may have had good intentions when it came up with the funding plan, but it’s obvious that there is some unfairness built into it. The funding may be complicated, but the goal is simple: Making sure every child in need gets the help he or she needs.
