CLEARWATER — A man was found passed out Friday afternoon moments after crashing a car into a house, police said.

Officers received a call about 12:45 p.m. about a car that damaged a house at 1441 Pine St. Two people were home at the time, but were not hurt.

When officer checked to see who was behind the wheel, the car was empty. But a few minutes later, officers received another call from a recycling truck driver who said a man was passed out on the side of the road a few blocks away.

Police found the man and discovered he is the registered owner of the car on Pine Street. The man, who has not been identified, was hospitalized.

Alcohol appears to be a factor in the crash, which remained under investigation Friday.
