Clearwater man charged with making advances at detective posing as 14-year-old girl

CLEARWATER — A 35-year-old Clearwater man was arrested Tuesday afternoon after he arranged a sexual rendezvous with an undercover detective who was posing as a teenage girl, authorities said.

Robert Mark Hall, who lives on Roosevelt Boulevard, was charged with traveling to meet a minor and prohibited use of a computer. He was being held at the Pinellas County Jail on $15,000 bail.

Detectives began investigating Hall in June after he posted a local ad on Craigslist, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office. Over the course of two weeks, Hall sent "inappropriate messages ... soliciting sexual favors" to an undercover detective online pretending to be a 14-year-old girl.

On Monday, Hall made arrangements to meet the detective's Internet persona at a local park, the Sheriff's Office said. He was taken into custody when he arrived.
