Clearwater police arrest man suspected in home invasion robbery

Clearwater police arrested a man Wednesday who they said robbed an elderly man on North Arcturas Avenue.

Rey Francisco Perez Chacon, 37, is accused of stealing a debit card and a firearm in a home invasion, according to police. He faces charges of armed home invasion, kidnapping, aggravated battery, fraudulent use of a credit card, being a felon in possession of a firearm and possession of a controlled substance (heroin).

Police said they recovered the gun and tracked Chacon down using surveillance footage from the Wells Fargo ATM where he used the debit card near his home on Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard.
