Clearwater police seek armed bank robber

CLEARWATER — Police are seeking the public's help in finding an armed bank robber.

Police said a man wielding a black semi-automatic handgun entered the Fifth Third Bank at 2710 Gulf to Bay Blvd. Thursday about 2:55 p.m.

He confronted a teller at gunpoint, demanded money and ran away with an undisclosed amount of money.

Police said the man was wearing a blue jacket, gray sweatpants, dark sun glasses and a black wig. He was of unknown race, between 5-foot-6-inches and 5-foot-9-inches tall with a thin build.

Clearwater police ask anyone with information to call their robbery tip line at (727) 562-4422. Tips can be anonymous.

People can also send the information to the Clearwater Police Department by texting CWPD and the tip information to 847411. Tips also can be submitted at the Clearwater Police Department's website: clearwaterpolice.org.
