Suspect in Plant City killing arrested after chase, crash

PLANT CITY — Authorities arrested a man early Thursday suspected of being the gunman who killed a 22-year-old man Wednesday in Plant City.

A car chase and subsequent crash early Thursday near Midway and Charlie Taylor roads was the result of a pursuit of Master Brown, 21, of Lakeland, whom authorities say is suspected in the shooting death of Ha'keem Alagawan Cook, Bay News 9 reported. Brown was later seen with two other men near the Hillsborough-Polk county line, where he was arrested.

Police say Cook died about 2 p.m. Wednesday in a fight inside "the Lot," a convenience store at 516 S Maryland Ave.

Authorities interviewed several witnesses and examined surveillance video from the store to identify Brown, Bay News 9 reported. Brown will be booked in the Polk County Jail.
