Detectives are investigating the death of a 2-year-old girl in Citrus County that has been ruled a homicide.
Citrus deputies on Friday were summoned to a home, where they found the girl "in distress," according to a news release from the sheriff's office.
The girl, Aliyah Marie Branum, of Hernando, was taken to Citrus Memorial Hospital and pronounced dead, the release states.
The Medical Examiner's Office has ruled the girl's death a homicide.
Sheriff's officials didn't release any other details Monday.
