Deputies arrest man accused of demanding pills from Tampa pharmacy

TAMPA — Authorities found a wanted man in a Town 'N Country apartment Wednesday afternoon and charged him demanding prescription pills from a pharmacist during a robbery, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.

Surveillance footage from the Walgreens at 8706 W Hillsborough Ave. showed Matthew Thomas Morgan, 33, entering the store Saturday and approaching a pharmacist, deputies said. Morgan demanded oxycodone pills and touched his waistband, implying that he had a gun, deputies said.

The pharmacist placed the pills in a paper bag handed to him by Morgan, and Morgan then fled, deputies said.

Deputies arrested him at 8824 Brennan Circle, Apartment 208. Morgan is charged with one count of strong arm robbery.
