Deputies arrest man in May 14 home invasion in Dunedin

DUNEDIN — Pinellas sheriff's detectives arrested a man Friday night in connection with a May 14 home invasion that injured a Dunedin man and his wife.

Christopher A. Austin, 24, was one of multiple people involved in the robbery at the home of Robert and Paula Babcock, deputies said. Austin previously did odd jobs around the home.

The couple was attacked about 5:30 a.m. when multiple people came into the home at 548 Chicago Ave. Robert Babcock, 66, was stabbed, and Paula Babcock, 63, was pistol-whipped, deputies said.

The Babcocks were taken to Bayfront Medical Center. On Friday, they were still recovering from their injuries, deputies said.

Austin is charged with home invasion robbery. Detectives are trying to identify other people involved in the robbery.
