SEMINOLE — A man accused of stealing golf and fishing equipment from homes in the area of Harbor Bluffs and Belleair Bluffs was arrested Thursday afternoon after leading deputies on a chase, the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office said.
Detectives tried to arrest Gary Nolan, 48, at 1 p.m. at the Pinecrest Golf Club in Largo, where he was trying to sell some of the stolen equipment, deputies said. Nolan put up a fight and officers used a Taser to try to subdue him. Still, he managed to drive off in a stolen white Lexus, grazing one of the deputies as he sped away, officials said.
Patrol cars chased him on Seminole Boulevard. One deputy was involved in a crash with minor injuries with a car not involved in the pursuit, the sheriffs office said.
Nolan was eventually boxed in by the patrol cars and arrested on a host of charges, including grand theft of a motor vehicle, fleeing and eluding, dealing in stolen property and aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer.
