Deputies arrest suspected Tampa cocaine dealer after four-month investigation

TAMPA — A four-month investigation ended Tuesday after Hillsborough County sheriff's deputies said they found 139 grams of cocaine stashed inside a gang member's car. Donald Matthew Wright, 29, of Tampa, was driving a 2007 Hyundai Azera to a cocaine delivery when deputies stopped him in a parking lot on N Armenia Avenue and W Cherry Street, deputies said. The amount of the drug seized in total in relation to the investigation was about 200 grams (about 7 ounces), with a street value of approximately $10,000, deputies said. A Latin Kings gang member, Wright became the subject of an investigation after deputies thought he was distributing large amounts of cocaine throughout northwestern Hillsborough County. He has a history of arrests including aggravated and armed robbery, according to the Sheriff's Office. He was being held Thursday at the Orient Road Jail on three charges of trafficking cocaine.
