Deputies: Brandon shoplifter pulls knife on store security

BRANDON — Deputies are looking for a woman who pulled a knife on a loss-prevention officer after being confronted about shoplifting at the Westfield Brandon mall JCPenney.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office released a video of the woman browsing through the shoe section, then leaving through some double doors.

They say the woman did not pay for the clothes and shoes she left with about 8 p.m. Jan. 27.

When a loss-prevention officer confronted her, she pulled a silver knife with a 6-inch blade, deputies say. The officer backed away, and the woman left in a gold-colored Chrysler PT Cruiser.

Deputies asked that anyone with information about the crime call them at (813) 247-8200 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-8477.
