GIBSONTON - A Gibsonton man was arrested after authorities say he barricaded himself in his apartment for eight hours Monday after threatening to kill his neighbor.

Hillsborough sheriff's deputies responded to a domestic disturbance call Monday afternoon at 10014 Indiana St., where they said David Hartshorn, 30, had been trying to break down the door of his neighbor's apartment with an unknown object. Hartshorn had threatened to kill 24-year-old Kenneth Pierce, deputies said, but when they arrived, Hartshorn had barricaded himself inside his own residence.

The county's SWAT and Crisis Negotiations teams tried to coax the man for almost eight hours before breaking down his door just after 9 p.m.

Hartshorn faces charges of aggravated assault with a firearm, battery, culpable negligence and two counts of obstructing or opposing an officer without violence, deputies said. He is being held at the Hillsborough County Jail on $4,000 bond.
