Deputies: Hillsborough death was homicide

A medical examiner has ruled the Friday night death of a Tampa man a homicide, Hillsborough County Sheriff's deputies said.

Deputies said Xin Nguyen, 51, was found dead by a friend inside his apartment home on Holly Court about 10:15 p.m. Friday. Two medical examiners responded to the scene, and after further investigation determined Saturday that Nguyen's death was a homicide.

The man suffered from chronic alcoholism and took numerous medications, a news release states. His body did not show outward signs of trauma or foul play.

Sheriff's Department spokeswoman Debbie Carter said a murder investigation was being conducted but said she could not provide more details. Deputies were seeking the public's help in gathering information about what happened and in identifying Nguyen's killer.
