Deputies: Hudson woman created counterfeit money

HUDSON A scheme to wash $5 bills and turn them into fake $50s and $100s has landed a Hudson woman in jail.

Debra Blair, 43, of 7401 Terrace Drive, is charged with forging U.S. Treasury notes. Deputies arrested her Wednesday after a tipster told them Blair was producing counterfeit money, a Pasco County Sheriff's Office report said. Deputies obtained a $5 bill that had been turned into a $50 bill, as well as photos of Blair washing and printing the money, the report said.

Blair told deputies that she was involved but "it was not her idea," according to the report. In addition to arresting Blair, deputies seized four printers.

Blair was taken to the county jail, where she remained Thursday in lieu of $5,000 bail.
