Deputies investigating teen's beating outside Dunedin High School

Authorities are investigating the beating of a 15-year-old girl outside of Dunedin High School Thursday afternoon.

The student was accosted by three female teenagers at about 2 p.m. across the street from the school at 1650 Pinehurst Road, according to Pinellas sheriff's deputies.

The attackers drove up in a car, got out and began to beat the student, knocking her to the ground and kicking her in the face, then driving off, deputies said. Deputies said there was no apparent reason for the attack.

The victim took herself to a nearby church, where she called her mother, who in turn notified school resource officers, deputies said. The girl was transported to a local hospital for serious but non-life threatening injuries.
