NEW PORT RICHEY — A 12-year-old went on a stealing spree last week in the Cypress Trace neighborhood, stealing a sport utility vehicle twice in two days and burglarizing other cars, authorities said.
The seventh-grader told deputies he did it "for an adrenaline rush," his arrest report says. The Times is withholding the boy's name due to his age.
He faces two charges of grand theft auto after authorities say he stole a Jeep Grand Cherokee from a home on Matthew Drive once on Friday morning, then again Saturday morning.
On Thursday, authorities say, the boy broke into three cars on Setters Point Drive and rummaged through the glove compartments. He is charged with auto burglary in those incidents.
