BRANDON — Reports of a suspicious person at Brandon Regional Hospital forced the facility into a lockdown at noon Monday before authorities declared the call to be a false alarm.

Hillsborough sheriff's deputies who responded to a call of an armed person at the hospital called for the lockdown while they conducted a search and set up a perimeter around the hospital, officials said.

Reports on Twitter described the incident as a "shooter on the roof" of the hospital.

The lockdown was lifted just before 12:45 p.m. when deputies determined that the suspicious person was actually a maintenance worker carrying a cordless drill.
