Deputies: Riverview man threatened woman, threw dog

RIVERVIEW — Deputies are looking for a Riverview man who threatened his girlfriend and threw her dog against a driveway, fracturing its leg.

Deputies have issued two warrants for Dorell Maxwell Webb, 39, on charges of animal cruelty and domestic violence.

They say that on Nov. 5, Webb and a 45-year-old woman started arguing about relationship issues. Webb started to appear out of control, and the woman tried to leave in her car.

That's when Webb grabbed her keys out of the ignition, breaking them.

The woman tried to call for help, but he grabbed her cell phone and threw it against the driveway. When she tried to leave in another vehicle, Webb popped the hood and tampered with the engine to stop her, deputies say.

When the woman got out and closed the hood, Webb grabbed her dog and threatened to break its neck. Then he threw the dog against the driveway, fracturing its leg in two places, deputies say.

The woman ran inside the home and called 911, but Webb followed her inside and ripped the phone from the wall.

She told him she got through to 911, and he left.

Deputies ask anyone with information on Webb's whereabouts to call the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office at (813) 247-8200 or Crime Stoppers toll-free at 1-800-873-8477.
