Deputies searching for six in connection to Tampa robbery

TAMPA — Deputies were searching for six men Friday who robbed a 7-Eleven store earlier this week, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said.

The men entered the store at 5001 Memorial Highway about 2:20 a.m. Tuesday and forced the clerk behind the counter and to open the cash register, deputies said. One robber then removed an undisclosed amount of cash from the register and snatched a carton a cigarettes. The others remained in front of the counter and acted as lookouts in front of the business, deputies said.

The robbers then ran away, heading west along Memorial Highway.

Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff's office at (813) 247-8200, or call Crime Stoppers toll-free at 1-800-873-8477.
