Deputies seek crane stolen from Tampa business

TAMPA — Authorities are hoping the public can help them figure out who broke into a Tampa business one night last month and fled with an industrial crane.

The burglary happened overnight between June 19 and 20 at Superior Crane and Rigging Inc. at 5410 W Linebaugh Ave. Between 7 p.m. on the 19th and 9 a.m. on the 20th, someone cut a lock on a gate surrounding the business, came inside and got into a 2006 Sterling semitrailer truck with a Terex crane attached to the cab, sheriff's officials said. They then fled. The crime was undetected until the morning.

The truck is white and bears the name "Superior Crane" in blue lettering on both cab doors. It is missing its front bumper.

Anyone with information regarding the theft is asked to call the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office at (813) 247-8200. Tips can also be provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1 (800) 873-TIPS (8477).
