Deputies seek woman who stole $1,700 diamond ring from Brandon jewelry store

BRANDON — It's a case of a runaway bride. Sort of.

Authorities are searching for a woman who ran out of a jewelry store with an engagement ring about two weeks ago.

The woman walked into Zales, 615 Brandon Town Center Drive, on Sept. 23 just before 3 p.m. and asked to see a set of gold engagement rings, officials said. She spent several minutes speaking with store associates and admiring the jewelry.

With a ring on her finger, she ran out of the store.

The value of the stolen diamond ring is $1,739.

The woman, who was caught on surveillance camera, is Hispanic or black with light skin, about 18-21 years old, between 5-feet and 5-feet 5-inches tall, thin and has black hair with a red patch on her right side, deputies said. A brightly-colored tattoo was spotted on her upper left arm.

She was last seen wearing a black tank top and jeans with rips in the knees, deputies said.

Anyone with information has been asked to call the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office at (813) 247-8200 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-8477.
