Detectives are searching for two men they say broke into a home in Seminole Thursday night in an attempted armed robbery.

According to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, the two men fled when the man living there shot at them with a gun he had on him. There were no injuries reported in the incident.

Deputies received a report around 11:44 p.m. that a home invasion occurred at a residence on Park Boulevard in Seminole.

According to deputies, 22-year-old Bryce Mazeika was in his home when two men, armed with a handgun, forced their way into the residence. The men told Mazeika they were police and directed him to get on the ground, deputies said.

When Mazeika realized they were not law enforcement officers, he armed himself with a handgun that was in his possession and shot at the men multiple times, deputies said.

One of the men fired back at Mazeika, deputies said, before both took off fleeing the home on foot in an unknown direction.

The men were described as being around 6 feet tall and in their mid 20s.

Deputies say the robbery attempt was likely drug-related.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office at (727)-582-6200 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-TIPS.
