A St. Petersburg woman is facing battery charges after deputies say she shot her boyfriend late Monday morning, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office.
Erika Alisha Harvey, 26, was arrested after deputies said she wounded 39-year-old Antoine McElroy following a dispute over cellphone usage and the suspicion of cheating.
On Monday just before noon, deputies responded to the St. Petersburg residence Harvey and McElroy share regarding a report of an armed person. When deputies arrived, they found Harvey standing in the doorway and McElroy lying on the floor with a gunshot wound to his mid-section.
According to deputies, Harvey admitted to shooting McElroy. A 9mm Smith & Wesson handgun that deputies say was used to shoot McElroy was recovered from the residence.
Harvey was transported to Pinellas County Jail and McElroy was taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg with serious but non-life threatening injuries, deputies said.
Harvey is facing one count of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
