DUNEDIN — A credit card skimmer was found on a pump at a gas station last week, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office.
Skimmers are illegal devices that are placed on gas pumps to secretly record a customer's debit card or credit card information. Deputies said on June 21 a skimmer was reported at gas pump No. 6 at the Mobil Bayshore Breeze Market and Grill gas station at 2600 Bayshore Blvd.
This was the second time a skimmer was found at that gas station, deputies said. Another was reported there last May.
Detectives with the sheriff's economic crimes unit are asking customers who used the Mobil on Bayshore Boulevard to check their bank and credit card statements for unauthorized transactions.
