Deputy, Riverview resident injured in Seffner crash

SEFFNER — A three-car crash sent a Hillsborough County deputy and a driver to a hospital Monday night.

Their conditions were not immediately available Tuesday morning.

The crash happened near Wheeler Road and Kingsway Road at 8:10 p.m.

Deputy Robertito Roldan, 54, was driving his Crown Victoria patrol car west on Wheeler Road through the Kingsway intersection. He had a green light, officials said.

Bailey Simms, 19, of Riverview was heading north on Kingsway in her Ford Mustang and drove through a red light, officials said. As Simms drove through the intersection, Roldan's car hit the Mustang's passenger side.

Police said the Mustang then struck a third vehicle, a 1999 Chrysler, that was stopped at the red light, heading south on Kingsway.

Angela R. Scallan, 35, of Brandon was driving the Chrysler and was not injured, deputies said.

Roldan and Simms were taken to Brandon Regional Hospital.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is continuing the investigation.
