Detectives identify man killed in East Tampa shooting

TAMPA

Victim identified in fatal drive-by shooting

Detectives have identified the man shot dead Tuesday evening in East Tampa, police said.

Paul Edward Smith Jr., 21, was sitting on the front porch of a house at 3412 Lindell Ave. about 5 p.m. when shots were fired from a passing car, Tampa police said.

Smith's death does not appear to be a random shooting, police said.

More circumstances were not released Wednesday while detectives continue to investigate the shooting. The gunman has not been identified.

No further information was immediately available.
