Disgraced former NBA ref Tim Donaghy back in jail, charged with violating probation

TAMPA — A former NBA referee convicted on illegal gambling charges is once again in jail. U.S. Marshals arrested Tim Donaghy, 42, on a federal rule violation charge Monday morning. A Hillsborough jail record notes that he violated probation. Donaghy, of Bradenton, previously admitted to a federal judge that he used inside information to bet on NBA games and supplied the same kind of information to gamblers. He served part of his 15-month sentence in a Pensacola prison and part in a Tampa halfway house. He was scheduled for release in October. Monday night, he remained in Hillsborough County jail with no bail.
