Electricity theft points to marijuana grown house, Tampa police say

TAMPA — Police say they stumbled on a marijuana grow house Wednesday while investigating electricity theft.

A police officer and a TECO theft investigator noticed a strong smell of marijuana Wednesday when they arrived at 1206 E Chilkoot St., police said.

Police were called and during a search discovered 47 marijuana plants, grow house equipment and $800 in cash.

Stannis Serrette, 37, was arrested on charges of cultivation of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, felony possession of marijuana and possession of narcotic paraphernalia. He was being held in lieu of $6,500 bail.
