Employee accused of stealing more than $88,000 in jewelry from International Diamond Center

LARGO — A woman accused of stealing more than $88,000 worth of jewelry from the International Diamond Center was arrested Wednesday morning, the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office said.

Christal Jean Anderson, 32, faces a charge of scheme to defraud.

While employed at the business, Anderson, of St. Petersburg, stole watches, links, and other jewelry items within a 10-month period. The total in stolen jewelry: $88,336, according to an arrest affidavit.

Anderson pawned some of the items, and also had another person sell items on her behalf, the affidavit shows.

The diamond center is at 3696 Ulmerton Road in unincorporated Largo.

Anderson was booked into the Pinellas County jail, where she remained Thursday in lieu of $50,000 bail.
