TAMPA — The FBI is offering a reward for information that will help federal authorities recover four guns stolen last year from government vehicles in Riverview and Wesley Chapel.
A total of $5,000 is being offered for the recovery of the weapons: a Colt M-4LE rifle, a Springfield 1911 pistol, Glock 23 Pistol, and a Remington 870 shotgun.
The weapons were taken in separate break-ins of FBI vehicles in 2014 in Hillsborough and Pasco counties. The first break-in, in May, happened in a Wesley Chapel neighborhood off County Line Road, according to a news release. The second happened in December in a Riverview neighborhood off Boyette Road.
The reward offer comes the week after two men were each sentenced to more than seven years in federal prison for the thefts. Jarvos Leonard White, and James David Weed, both 24, were each convicted of the thefts, which they committed separately. Both were burglarizing vehicles at random in the respective neighborhoods, authorities said.
Anyone with information about the stolen guns is asked to call the FBI's Tampa office at (813) 253-1000.
