FDLE: Zephyrhills sex offender had 27,000 child porn videos

ZEPHYRHILLS — A convicted sex offender kept at least 27,000 videos depicting child pornography, according to authorities who raided his house and arrested him Wednesday morning.

Billy Jim Herrington, 39, faces 25 counts of possession of child porn, a third-degree felony.

State and local law enforcement agencies served a search warrant at his home, at 38114 Seventh Ave. in Zephyrhills.

According to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, investigators found more than 27,000 child porn videos there, and believe there could be at least 75,000 more images of child porn on a computer.

The FDLE said Herrington is listed on the state's sex offender registry. He was convicted of two counts of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 16 in April 1995, the agency said.

Herrington was being held in the Pasco County Jail.
