TAMPA — A piece of cardboard set off a fracas in the Romneyville encampment early Tuesday that resulted in the third arrest this week associated with protests of the Republican National Convention.
Dante M. Sea, 24, was staying in a tent in the politically named homeless camp next to the Army Navy Surplus Market at 1312 N Tampa St., according to police.
For unknown reasons, Sea went into a shed in the camp and took a piece of cardboard, police said. The cardboard's owner, Eddie C. Thomas, 60, confronted Sea and started an argument.
Police said Sea then hit Thomas and broke his jaw. Thomas got a trip to Tampa General and Sea was taken to the Hillsborough County Jail.
Sea faces a charge of aggravated battery. He also had an outstanding warrant on a charge of marijuana possession.
