TAMPA — A fire that started in an outside air conditioning unit caused $50,000 in damage to an east Tampa funeral home Friday night.
Someone reported flames coming from the integrity Funeral Home at 3822 E Seventh Ave., just before 11 p.m., Tampa Fire Rescue said.
It took 40 minutes to put out the flames, which spread from the air conditioner to the attic space.
There was no smoke or fire damage to the bodies inside the funeral home, fire rescue said.
Investigators blamed a mechanical failure for the air conditioner catching fire.
