NEW PORT RICHEY — Five juveniles who are current or former students at Seven Springs Middle School were taken into custody this week, accused of breaking into the school and causing thousands of dollars in property damage, the Pasco County Sheriff's Office said.

The juveniles, whom the Times is not identifying because they are minors, got into the school through an unlocked door on Saturday and found classroom keys inside a desk, authorities said. The suspects, ranging in age from 12 to 14, then believed to have used the keys to enter other parts of the school repeatedly over the next two days.

Over the three-day period, investigators said, the juveniles caused up to $3,000 in damage with fire extinguishers and stole five Apple TVs.

They all face burglary charges, and one faces an additional charge of preventing the extinguishment of a fire, according to arrest records.
