Gulfport police arrest man on charges he molested teen boy

GULFPORT — A 72-year-old man is accused of sexually molesting a 13-year-old boy.

Police arrested Prometeo Inglesias-Bernal on Thursday after an investigation.

Inglesias-Bernal, who knew the boy but was not related to him, was reported to have sexually abused the boy at least once in mid-January, Gulfport police said.

As detectives investigated the Gulfport incident, they learned of a possible second sexual encounter that Inglesias-Bernal with the boy in Pinellas Park, where Inglesias-Bernal lives, police said. Pinellas Park police are investigating.

Inglesias-Bernal was booked in the Pinellas County Jail on charges of lewd and lascivious battery on a child.
