GULFPORT — A purported drug deal ended with one man slashing and seriously injuring another on Monday, according to Gulfport police. Now detectives are looking for the alleged drug dealer in connection with the reported assault.
The incident took place about 4 p.m. Monday near Hamilton Disston School at 5125 11th Ave. S, according to police. The victim, who was not identified by police, met the alleged dealer near the school to buy drugs.
But the two men got into an argument, police said, and then the alleged dealer attacked the man, slashing him several times on the arms and chest while demanding money.
The man managed to flee and flag down a passing officer.
The alleged dealer is described as a white male about 35 to 40 years old. He is about 6 feet 3, 240 pounds with a bald or closely shaved head. He also has a goatee that was twisted into a point. He wore a white T-shirt and brown shorts.
Police said they're working on a composite sketch of the man. Police are asking anyone with information to call Detective Hanh Pham at (727) 893-1654.
