TAMPA — A health advisory has been issued for two beaches after water sampling revealed traces of bacteria, Hillsborough County officials announced Wednesday.
Samples taken Monday at Ben T. Davis and Picnic Island beaches showed above average levels of enterococci bacteria, which comes from fecal pollution from stormwater runoff, animals and human sewage, health department officials said.
Exposure to the bacteria may cause disease, infections or rashes.
The beaches will be resampled Dec. 17.
