Hernando County deputies seek man who grabbed girl near bus stop

SPRING HILL — Hernando County deputies are searching for a man who reportedly grabbed a 12-year-old girl by the jacket as she walked to a school bus stop Thursday morning.

The man was riding a large-frame bicycle when he approached the girl between 6:30 and 6:57 a.m. on Sterling Hill Boulevard and told her to get on the bike, according to a sheriff's report.

When the girl said no, he grabbed her jacket but she was able to pull away and run to the bus stop, the report states.

The suspect is described as a chubby, dark-skinned man in his late 30s. wearing all black clothing, with a black beanie and black gloves. He rode a large-frame, dark bicycle with white lettering.

The Sheriff's Office will have extra patrols in and around the area of the incident. Anyone with information about this incident or the identity of the subject is asked to contact the Hernando County Sheriff's Office at (352) 754-6830.
