BROOKSVILLE — Hernando County Sheriff's deputies shot a woman they believed to be suicidal after she pointed a shotgun at them Sunday, according to a police report.

The woman was subsequently air-lifted to a local trauma center to be treated for non-life threatening injuries, authorities said.

The deputies were helping Brooksville Police Department officers respond to the Cedar Drive home of a woman who had barricaded herself inside about 2:15 p.m.

They arrived with information that the woman was armed with a shotgun and had other weapons inside her home.

With the agency's SWAT and Crisis Response Teams still on the way, the woman came outside and pointed a shotgun at deputies, the agency reported. Three deputies shot at the woman, and they have each been placed on paid administrative leave.

No deputies were harmed, according to the report. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement will handle the investigation.
