Hernando deputies investigate after man run down with SUV

An argument between two family members ended with one man ramming into another with a sport utility vehicle Friday evening in Spring Hill, according to sheriff's deputies.

Phillip Atkins, 28, was visiting relatives about 5:30 p.m. at 2079 Fentress Court when he got in an argument with a family member, deputies said. Following the argument, Atkins left the home, but returned a short time later driving a 1997 Ford Expedition.

He drove the Expedition toward the man with whom he had argued and ran into him, deputies said. The man, whom officials did not immediately identify, was taken to a local trauma center with serious injuries.

An investigation of the incident was ongoing late Friday. No arrests had been made.
