SPRING HILL — Hernando County deputies used a Taser to subdue a 24-year-old man being arrested on drug charges after the suspect went for a loaded pistol hidden under his bed.
Deputies were serving a search warrant at 12457 Killian St. when they found Sean Everett Swartz trying to hide under the covers in a bedroom, according to an arrest report.
Swartz began screaming and swinging at the deputies, ignoring orders to stop by kicking at the investigators. He cursed and began reaching under the bed, where deputies found a loaded .357 pistol, the report states.
Deputies were able to subdue Swartz using a Taser. A search of the house turned up a loaded .22 caliber Winchester rifle in a safe in a bedroom closet. Records show Swartz has been convicted on a felony charge of possession of cocaine.
Investigators also found oxycodone, methadone and other prescription drugs as well as marijuana in the house, according to the report.
Swartz was arrested on drug possession charges and resisting arrest with violence as well as possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was being held at the Hernando County jail on a bond of $36,500.
