Hillsborough deputies arrest Army reservist on child porn charges

TAMPA — Deputies arrested a U.S. National Guard reservist Thursday who is accused of possessing child pornography, according to jail records.

Steve Carl Brannon Jr., 25, was under investigation by the Hillsborough County Sheriff's office Predator Unit for two months before deputies served a search warrant on his home at 11310 Pine Court unit B306.

Forensics found images of children ages 3 to 16 engaged in sexual activity on Brannon's three computers, external hard drive, cell phones and SD memory cards, which were seized on June 15, according to the sheriff's office.

Detectives also downloaded child pornography images that were made available for download from Brannon's computers.

He was charged with eight counts of distribution of child pornography and 21 counts of possession of child pornography.

He was being held Thursday in the Hillsborough County Jail on $217,500 bail.
