TAMPA — Last month, a Tampa man walked in to a Walmart to buy dog food and walked out to find his sport utility vehicle — with his dog inside it — missing.
Deputies said Wednesday they're one step closer to finding Poochie, a 6-year-old mixed breed with long white hair. But they need the public's help.
Deputies arrested the suspected SUV thief: Mario Emilio Perez, 26, of Tampa, on charges of petty theft and grand theft motor vehicle last week.
Perez told deputies he had let the dog go near the East Lake Park subdivision on Orient Road.
Deputies ask anyone with information about Poochie's whereabouts to call the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office at (813) 247-8200.
