Hillsborough deputies bust Seffner cock fight

SEFFNER — Six men were arrested Sunday and charged with attending an animal fight after deputies discovered a large-scale cock fighting event taking place in a horse barn.

Responding to a complaint at 1706 Kingsway Road, deputies found the cock fighting operation and several people fleeing the scene, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said. Deputies arrested six men there, but about 40 vehicles were left by those believed to have run away.

Inside the barn, detectives found an arena and 97 roosters in crates or boxes, or running loose with spurs on their legs. Nine roosters were found dead.

Deputies arrested Cristobal Lara, 37, of Plant City; Jesus Roblero, 31, of Dover; Martin Doniaz Jr., 29, of Zephyrhills; Luis Aleman, 46, of Lakeland; Jorge Limas, 41, of Dade City; and Eduardo Gonzalez Lopez, 21, of Wimauma.
