Hillsborough deputies seek armed robbery suspect

TAMPA — Deputies are seeking the public's help identifying a man who robbed a Circle K in Tampa on Tuesday.

A surveillance video captured the robbery, which deputies say happened at 2:06 a.m. at the Circle K at the intersection of Benjamin and Johns roads.

The suspect, armed with a black semi-automatic handgun, approached the clerk and demanded money from the register, deputies said. He received an unknown amount of cash and then fled in what deputies believe to be a newer model blue or gray sports utility vehicle, possibly a Ford Escape.

Deputies are describing the man as Hispanic, between 18 and 21 years old, about 5-foot-6 and about 150 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, a black stocking cap, long blue jean shorts, white tennis shoes and a white bandana over his face.

The Sheriff's Office asks anyone with information to call them at (813) 247-8200 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-8477.
