Hillsborough deputies seek suspected serial armed robber

TAMPA — Hillsborough sheriff's officials released surveillance video Thursday of what is believed to be a serial armed robber who held up a fast food restaurant last week in north Tampa.

The robbery happened about 5:20 a.m. June 20 at the Burger King at 3911 Van Dyke Road. An employee, who was taking trash outside, was accosted at gunpoint in the parking lot by a man wearing a black cloth over his face, deputies said. The man forced the employee back in the building, demanded cash from a safe, then forced the restaurant staff into a walk-in freezer before fleeing.

The same man is believed to have committed two similar robberies June 14 at the same Burger King and a Taco Bell restaurant at 2015 N 50th Street in Tampa.

Anyone with information about the man's identity is asked to call the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office at (813) 247-8200.
