TAMPA — Hillsborough detectives have identified the man they say stabbed a woman to death nearly a year ago.
Otano Anton Leggett, 34, who is currently serving time in prison on unrelated cocaine charges, is accused of killing Nancy Grooms, whose body was discovered at her apartment at 920 122nd Ave on Feb. 12. Hillsborough Sheriff's Office has obtained an arrest warrant charging Leggett with first-degree murder with a weapon.
Leggett will be escorted back to Hillsborough County to face the murder charge.
Detectives obtained video surveillance footage from two local convenience stores showing Grooms being accompanied by an unknown man, later identified as Leggett.
Witnesses told detectives they'd seen Leggett leaving Grooms's residence. Authorities say DNA evidence links Leggett and Grooms prior to her death.
