LARGO — A fake pipe bomb strapped beneath a car at a Jiffy Lube station caused a scare that snarled traffic for hours Saturday evening, police said.
The incident was reported at about 6:30 p.m. at the Jiffy Lube at 13763 Walsingham Road. Largo police said a technician doing an oil change found the device strapped beneath an automobile.
Largo police called in the Tampa Bay regional bomb squad, which removed the device without incident and deemed it a hoax at about 9 p.m., said Largo Fire Rescue District Chief Kelly Callahan.
Police were investigating.
