Housemate arrested in murder of Clair Mel City woman

TAMPA — Deputies arrested a 53-year-old man Friday and charged him with the January murder of a woman in the Clair Mel City area, records show.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, when deputies arrived at 58-year-old Judith Rolander's home at 2413 S 82nd St. at 2:49 a.m. on Jan. 12, they found her dead, with bruises on her face and torso. Paul Dotson, who lived with Rolander, was home at the time and told deputies he did not know how she died, the arrest report says.

An autopsy showed that Rolander died of "multiple blunt impact injuries with laceration of spleen and peritoneal hemorrhage and strangulation." Deputies say Dotson was the only person to come into contact with Rolander during the time of her death.

He is charged with first-degree murder and was being held at the Orient Road Jail without bail.
